Painters in Canmore.
An hour west on the Trans-Canada, at 1,300 metres, with heavy snow load, intense alpine UV and a lot of timber that needs finishing rather than painting.

What do Canmore homes need that Calgary homes do not?
Timber, cedar and alpine UV
Mountain architecture here leans on exposed beams, cedar soffits, timber accents and heavy fascia. Those elements usually want a penetrating semi-transparent stain rather than an opaque paint film, because a film on horizontal timber under snow load will eventually blister and peel while a penetrating finish weathers back gracefully.
UV at 1,300 metres is measurably harsher than in Calgary. South-facing timber can need refreshing every three to five years, which sounds frequent until you compare it to replacing the wood.

Short-term rentals and scheduling
A lot of Canmore property is rented nightly, and the only thing that matters is finishing inside the gap between bookings. We schedule tight, use low-odour products so the unit is guest-ready immediately, and work weekdays in shoulder season where possible.
The exterior season is genuinely shorter up here than in the city — realistically June to early September — so mountain exterior work should be quoted in early spring.

Canmore painting questions
Do you travel to Canmore from Calgary?
Yes, it is about an hour west on Highway 1. Because of the drive we prefer to schedule Canmore work in blocks, and travel is included in the quoted price rather than billed separately.
Should mountain timber be painted or stained?
Almost always stained. A penetrating semi-transparent stain lets the wood breathe and weathers back evenly, while an opaque film on exposed timber under snow load tends to blister and peel.
Can you paint between short-term rental bookings?
Yes. Give us the gap and we schedule to it, using low-odour products so the unit is ready for the next guest without an airing-out period.
